The secret to a long and healthy life? A HIGH-rise flat: People who live below the eighth floor are 22% more likely to die early

People living above the 8th floor are 40% less likely to die from lung disease

They are also 35% less likely to die from severe heart disease

Could be because walking up and down the stairs means they are fitter

They are also exposed to less pollution and noise than those at ground level

But those living on the ground floor are 60% less likely to commit suicide by jumping

For years, tower blocks were mostly associated with poverty and deprivation.

But now it seems living in a high-rise flat could be the secret to a long and healthy life.

New research shows the higher the floor you live on, the greater your life expectancy.

Experts at the University of Bern in Switzerland found the chances of dying from serious lung disease was 40 per greater among residents who lived on the ground floor compared to those with a flat on the eighth floor or above.
